A Birthday and a Homecoming

My best friend, the love of my life, turned 32 today. She's the most amazing wife & mother. My boys & I are so lucky she's ours. :)

Linus's echo on Tues showed a slight amount of improvement. This is not amazing news since they've now quadrupled his Capt0pril dose in the last 9 days. I was sort of hoping there'd be more than "slight differences" on screen. However, since it wasn't worse, they said we could wait to see our regular cardiologist so he can create a new action plan. Upon hearing this news, Trina and I decided that we should bring Linus home. Trina has been living at the hospital and caring for him full time. She was feeding, changing, bathing & medicating him. Why not do that at home? He was no longer wearing EKG leads, just a pulse oximeter and an NG tube. We talked to the cardiologist about it and he said they could teach Trina how to run the feeding pump and how to drop a new NG tube in case he pulled his out. She's a quick study and had everything down pat in no time. They gathered all of the meds and equipment he needed and she brought him home this afternoon.

It's so amazing to have everyone under one roof again. We're still trying to find our stride and get a good pattern down for feeding and caring for all three boys simultaneously. Especially since I'll go back to work tomorrow and Trina will be flying solo against the trio. Having only two of the boys home has been like a vacation as far as the work load. "Twins" are so easy! Two babies? No problem, I have two arms. I can feed, hold, pat, burp or rock two babies with ease. Three babies? Um...two arms...damn. Add in Linus's new "gear" and it can get a little hairy. Never fear, though. Trina is amazing and will have us back on track in no time.

Supermom feeding all three boys before Linus's hospital trip.

I've never posted before...but I just had to let you know that a soon to be grandma is sitting at her computer crying tears of happiness for your beautiful family of 5. I'm so glad that Linus gets to be home for the New year...My mom used to tell me that what you do on New Years eve is what you will be doing all year..I know it's a bit silly but in this case I would like to think that this will hold true for your family. Happy Birthday...and thanks for that picture, that smile says it all.

Happy New Year, belated happy birthday and awesome your handling of three! I had a hard time with just one in the beginning (still do now and then, but now the second one is making it even more complicated as well...).
Good luck with the going back to work and with the staying at home with the whole family and the wait for news from your cardiologist. You girls are VERY brave - keeping my fingers crossed, as ever.
Jade (ps and THANK you for keeping us updated!)

PS - are those rubber bands on your bottles or something more spiffy? We use rubberbands on ours but I'm always trying to think of a better idea.

I just want to answer the questions asked here in the comments...I know Robbie would answer if she had the time! They have help off and on...both of their moms and sisters have taken turns staying with them for a week or few days here and there. But there are also been many days they don't have help and they've been handling it like pros. I'm one of the sisters, but haven't been able to help lately because my son and I have been sick...can't infect those sweet babies! And yes, those are colored rubber bands on the bottles to keep track of food amounts, thickeners and meds.

Your boys are beautiful, congrats! It's so nice to see other LGBT on blogspot. (I'm a lesbian and my husband is recently F to M.)We plan on having kids and I am hoping for multiples. Thanks for sharing, I'll be following.

Love the "supermom" picture....she looks so happy! Happy Birthday AND welcome home!! I'm sure you're already aware of it, but I seem to remember seeing some kind of feeding device that rests on the baby and holds the bottle. Probably invented by a mom of multiples who just didn't have enough hands!
